Great job to everyone who contributed, thanks a lot! Wow i think that it took you a lot of time for this list, thanks and Happy Christmas. Simply amazing! Amazing work, Thank you Dulfy. Dyes are colors that can be applied to equipped armor and outfits , allowing players to personalize the look of their character.
Weapons and accessories cannot be dyed. This feature is unlocked account-wide at level 6, with dyes also being available account-wide after unlocking them. A dye will state, in the information panel, if it has already been unlocked. Attempting to unlock the dye again will result in a chat message stating it has been unlocked and the dye will not be consumed. Up to four different colors may be applied to an individual item, and the outcome may differ depending on the type of material cloth, leather, metal that the dye is used on.
Although newly acquired items will automatically be dyed with the dyes set for a currently equipped item, once applied, dyes will be saved in the item.
For example, a character can equip an item that is not soulbound on use, dye it, put it in the bank and another character that equips the item will see the same colors applied to the item. Dyes will be lost when the item is sold through the Trading Post, though. Also, each race has a cultural palette that reflects the character of the species. This means a red color for a human may not look the same as a red color for a norn or charr.
Unlike the original Guild Wars series, dyes are unlocked, rather than collected as vials. This allows players to change the color of their armor as they see fit, without having to rely on a limited supply and storage. Each account has access to the same set of 21 starter colors. As players progress through the game, additional colors can be acquired in several ways. You can review the colors unlocked for your account via the dye mode in the equipment tab on the hero panel interface.
There are also dyes that can be obtained through the Gem Store via dye kits that are generally introduced at the same time as related episodes of the Living World. Alternatively, the individual dyes can be bought on the Trading Post , or a certain selection of account bound versions can be chosen from Birthday Gifts. Each kit contains a single dye randomly selected from a pool of 25 colors: 19 colors are from the standard palette and six are exclusive to that kit, the exceptions being Blue Shift, Shadow, and the combined Flame and Frost dye kits.
As with other containers, the chances of each rarity dropping are not equal, e. Kits are only available at the gem store for limited periods of time, usually about weeks; after which they are often introduced to the Black Lion Chest as an uncommon drop.
Dye kits from the chest have been known to be replaced by newer ones at times. The preview window has space for up to four colors, which are applied to specific color "channels" on each item.
There are four ways to preview specific colors:. Players can experiment with many different combinations of dye in order to produce the most desired result. To do this:. Colors can be placed into favorites by right-clicking the requested dye. Dyes can be organized by hue , material , and set.
Witch of Doom. There are also cases where a expensive dye is the exact same color as a cheaper dye for certain materials or very close to the same color and then there is the issue of dye panel versus reality Dye panel vs. I have spent so long looking at my panel getting JUST the right shade of something only to find out that it doesn't work when out in the world and it is maddening.
I have seen from time to time unidentified dyes being given as a bonus for completing x events in a certain map. Hover your cursor over the map's name to see what possible bonus rewards you can get from completing some events there try level map zones.
Whether or not it's worth it time, chance of identifying rare dye is not something I can say with confidence. Maybe she can give it a try? Plus today she got to learn about Inventory Wars, now instead of outfits she wants bag slots next time we get paid. You do, however, need to give the website an API key from your GW2 account, which for gw2efficiency is totally safe. Be aware that there are 4 tiers of dyes: common blue letters , uncommon green letters , rare yellow letters , gemshop yellow letters but special icon with that orange glow.
Start by selecting only the common dyes in the trading post. Don't buy instantly, put up orders for each of them, 1 copper more than the current highest order. Tomorrow, collect the dyes you got and revise your still existing buying orders. If you don't have the highest buying order any more, put up a new one 1 copper more than the now highest order and cancel your previous one. This doesn't have any fee connected to it. The next day, do the same. And so on, until you have all common dyes.
You just spent less than 2 gold for dyes. It's probably better having all of those for choice than having only one rare color that cost the same as all common together. Then go on the the uncommon dyes and do the same. All uncommon dyes cost 14 gold all together. Then go on to the rare dyes. Sort them by price and skip the more expensive ones. This will automatically exclude the totally overprices gemshop dyes.
The 82 rare ones excluding gemshop dyes cost gold. The gemshop dyes cost gold. Skip them. Forget them. They don't exist, except in the birthday presents you get starting the 3rd birthday.
And don't gamble. Buy the dyes directly in the trading post. Most straightforward way to get exactly all dyes with no duplicates. If you get an unindentified dye, sell it at the trading post and buy the dye you want to have for the revenue of the unidentified dye. Duplicates sell dirt cheap, so it's no use opening unidentified dyes.
I have it and that's the best I have seen up to now. Out of all we can do with it, you get a specific overview of all dyes, what ones are unlocked, what ones not, how much each is costing at BLT, and you can structured the overview as it suits you, like for example ordering from cheapest to most expensive, or else.
